The cultural exchange project 'Now Wakes The Sea - NL - RUSSIA' will start with the collaboration in 2013, to be continued in 2014.

In 2012 co-curator Eliane Bots of Satellietgroep visited Moscow and St. Petersburg to connect to the cultural partners. This studytrip was funded by Stroom The Hague.
Followed by the selection for the program of the celebration of NLRF2013 by the board and artistic director Sjeng Scheijen of SICA.

In april 2013 curator/director Jacqueline Heerema presented Satellietgroep at the opening of 'Telling The Baltic' in Kaliningrad, at the conference hall of the World Ocean Museum, Kaliningrad. view
Telling the Baltic is a long term collaborative storytelling project involving Laznia Centre for Contemporary Art (Laznia CCA), Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH), Blekinge County Museum, NGO ArtMission, Baltic Branch of the National Centre for Contemporary Arts (NCCA), Nida Art Colony/Vilnius Art Academy, Kunsthalle Rostock and Stena Ferry Line.

September 2013 Satellietgroep will partcipate in 'Mutual AIR Impulse', a four day visiting program in Moscow focuses on connecting artist in resiedency programs with discussions, workshops, symposia and network meettings, programmed by Trans Artists and AMK, Association of Cultural Managers Moscow.

On November 6 2013 Prof.dr. Jos van den Broek is invited by Satellietgroep to give a lecture at NIP, The Netherlands Institute in St. Petersburg. view

About NWTS
The project Now Wakes The Sea' (NWTS) is initiated by Dutch Satellietgroep and involves research based artist in residence programs for artists/architects/filmmakers in coastal transition areas in countries surrounding the Black Sea and North Sea to develop new works, select existing works and program traveling film festivals for public screenings and debates on venues, both on the coast of the Black Sea as on the North Sea.
The cultural exchange project 'Now Wakes The Sea' started in 2012 with the exchange of The Netherlands and Turkey in the context of NLTR400. Satelietgroep is very proud to be selected for the program for Russia, called NLFR2013. ECF provides funding to continue the project with Moldova and Georgia.

NCCA St. Petersburg Branch programs an artist in residence in Kronstadt. The town of Kronstadt is located on Kotlin island in the Finnish Gulf, 30 km from St.Petersburg. A dam connects the island with the mainland.

GeoAIR (2003 onwards) organizes and supports international exchange projects with the goal of strengthening the Georgian and Caucasian art world, bringing together artists from different cultural backgrounds and finding relevant contexts for them to work in.
Besides this, GeoAIR stimulates and raises awareness and engagement with art and culture from this region. We work together with international individuals and organizations that share our goals. GeoAIR has also become, over the past years, an ‘intermediary’ for individuals and organizations that seek connection with the arts in this region.

Batumi International Art-House Film Festival (BIAFF) was established in 2006.
The founder and organizer –Batumi Art-house  "ARGANI", official partner - Batumi City Hall. BIAFF is annual event and is held in second half of September. Festival is focusing on art-house cinema.
Their vision is to become the premier international Film Festival in Georgia in the near future and to continue to expand our reach becoming the major international Film Festival event in the Black Sea region focusing on art-house and independent cinema. The mission of BIAFF is to be an international event designed to enhance cultural exchange, understanding, and collaboration through the screening of new art house-house and non-commercial films from Georgia and abroad. The event provides an opportunity for well known film makers, producers and film critics to meet and share their expertise and works with other people in their respective fields and gives  local cinema lovers and other individuals a better understanding of the industry and it’s people through retrospectives. BIAFF is also focused on providing a quality educational opportunity for those people interested in film and cinematography.

Sakdoc Film
Sakdoc Film is a documentary film production company in Georgia. The aim of Sakdoc Film is to depict the transitional period that Georgia is now undergoing from being a Soviet state to becoming a modern country. We believe that there are number of topics, places and people that will not exist in Georgia in a few years and which are worth and even essential to film before the opportunity fades away. Apart from producing Sakdoc Film is also implementing projects related to documentary filmmaking such as organizing workshops and screenings.

The Association “MediaArt Dialogue” was established in November, 2010. It is a union of journalists, filmmakers, artists from Moldova. The main goal of the organization is to support cultural democracy, to develop intercultural dialogue and to consolidate mass-media representatives. They organize  events, the media forum “Freedom to choose: from the rock carvings to high speed Internet” held in Chisinau, 2011 in the frameworks of the World Press Freedom Day. In the frame of this forum they curated a photo exhibition "The Moment of choice. Moldova. Social Portrait" The purpose of the photo competition-exhibition "The Moment of choice. Moldova.Social Portrait” was to identify trends in contemporary photography and attract a wider audience to the social phenomena, social problems of our society. Ploshadka is an art-platform and an online community of the cultural sector in Moldova. Curator of platform is artist visual Fiodorova Tatiana. The activities of the ART-platform are aimed at creating an online community of the cultural sector in Moldova with a view to consolidating the Moldovan cultural resources, as well as the formation and expansion of a single cultural space, covering a variety of arts and culture. 

Teatry Spalatorie
The "Spălătorie platform" project intends to enhance the international artistic presence in Moldova, promoting experimental artistic productions and discourses. Rather than focusing on a topic, the project wanted to create an interdisciplinary programme for the "Spălătorie theatre" which contributed to the promotion of alternative and international artistic productions in Moldova, and established a long term partnership between Moldovan and other European cultural institutions. It includes performances, workshops and public debates.

'Az én tengerem': 'The Sea In  Me' meets first time Hungarian audience!
After Den Haag and Istanbul, 'The Sea in me' - produced by Bahanur Nasya and Yilmaz Vurucu while artists in resdident for 'NWTS'  in Sinop and The Hague - is selected to be screened at the 5th Architectural Filmfestival in Budapest. http://kek.org.hu/filmnapok/az-en-tengerem/
Festival is Feb 28-March 3rd, the film will be screened on March 2nd.

PREPARING NWTS IN GEORGIA, MOLDOVA AND RUSSIA IN 2013
The cultural exchange project 'Now Wakes The Sea' started in 2012 with Turkey in the context of NLTR400. Satelietgroep is very proud to be selected for the program for Russia, called NLFR2013. ECF provides funding to continue the project with Moldova and Georgia.
The project NWTS is initiated by Dutch Satellietgroep and involves research based artist in residence programs for artists/architects/filmmakers in coastal transition areas in countries surrounding the Black Sea and North Sea to develop new works, select existing works and program traveling film festivals for public screenings and debates on venues, both on the coast of the Black Sea as on the North Sea.

Artist run initiative Satellietgroep is based since 2006 in The Hague, The Netherlands, a country with a strong historic art and innovative relationship with the sea. Satellietgroep explores through arts and culture how the sea and waterways influence cities, people, communities and environment. Satellietgroep’s aim is to enhance public and professional awareness on coastal transitions. Satellietgroep developed the artist in residency progra’ for research and exchange of local knowledge on a global level. It invites international artists and scientists to jointly develop and present research articulating a cultural, innovative and sustainable significance of the sea and its coasts by doing on-site research, engaging with local communities, collaborating with local experts and connecting to international networks. It interconnects coastal communities by connecting contemporary research and new works to historic and future coastal developments.
