Satellietgroep - Where art is the first form of life
Kunstenaarsinitiatief Satellietgroep is in 2006 opgericht in Den Haag, met als doel de culturele betekenis van de zee te onderzoeken vanuit het perspectief van de kunsten en wetenschap. We dagen kunstenaars, vormgevers, (landschap) architecten en wetenschappers uit om nieuwe concepten en projecten te ontwikkelen die de culturele, innovatieve en duurzame kwaliteiten van de zee en haar kusten tot uitdrukking brengen. Projecten van Satellietgroep zijn ondermeer Satellieteiland (2006), Zeedelijk (2007), S.MAG (Sea Magazines, vanaf 2007), EXOOT (2008) en het project BADGAST- cultuur container aan zee (2009-2011).
BADGAST - culturele programmering aan zee over de zee
BADGAST is gebouwd van 2 gestapelde zeecontainers door recycle architecten REFUNC (www.refunc.nl) voor Satellietgroep. BADGAST is een artist in residence aan de kust waar kunstenaars en wetenschappers uit binnen- en buitenland op uitnodiging van Satellietgroep verblijven en werken. Daarnaast tonen we films over de zee in de Cinema aan Zee @ BADGAST.

BADGAST staat op FAST (Free Architecture Surf Terrain). Op FAST wordt gebouwd aan een nieuwe urban beach community, op het scharnierpunt van boulevard en haven in Scheveningen. FAST vormt een unieke culturele hotspot aan zee, waar (sub) culturen elkaar weten te vinden en samenwerken om een bijzondere plek voor liefhebbers van de zee te realiseren. www.fastthehague.com
Artists Initiative Satellietgroep was established in 2006 in The Hague, with the aim of studying the cultural significance of sea from the perspective of the arts and science. The founders are Jacqueline Heerema (art concept +organization), Andries Micke (architect) and Hederik van der Kolk and Bas the Koning(Collective of designers Duel). We challenge artists, designers, (landscape) architects and scientists to create new concepts and projects that express the cultural, innovative and sustainable qualities of the sea and its coasts . Our projects include Satellietisland (2006), Zeedelijk (2007), S. MAG (Sea Magazines from 2007), EXOOT (2008) and the artproject BADGAST- culture container at sea (2009-2011).
BADGAST is built from 2 stacked shipping containers by recycling architects REFUNC for Satellietgroep. BADGAST is an artist in residence on the coast where artists and scientists from home and abroad work at the invitation of Satellietgroep. In addition, we show films about the sea in the Cinema by the Sea @ BADGAST.
BADGAST is situated at FAST, the new urban beach community that is created at the point where the boulevard turns into the harbour of Scheveningen, The Hague, The Netherlands.
